Been thinking a lot about music as therapy these past few days since my original comment. When I am working in clay and whatever music I am playing starts to synchronize with the movement in clay, all I can describe is pure magic. I can literally feel nerve, muscle, and brain synchronize and dance. Would be so interesting to scan this with imaging. I see some of that in your light photography. ❤️

I completely understand what you’re describing, Barbara! I found that drawing to music really guided the process. I used music, art and other forms of creativity to keep healing. I’m glad you see it in my light art. I certainly “feel” your Barbaraness in your ceramics!

Thank you for continuing to write about your journey, Honestly I am in awe of how you figured all of this out and listened to your body, allowing it to guide you to the next level of healing. I am struck this time by your mention of music as therapy. The therapy of music is underrated in the healing of neuro pathways. I witnessed it with my sister who was diagnosed with early onset Alzheimers in her late 50s. Every time music was played, whether we were at a family function, wedding or other celebration, her "other brain" would take over allowing her to move, smile, laugh and dance again. I think about my time working in the ER and calling a "code stroke". There was protocol for "door to CT scan" being under 10 minutes. What if we started to play the patient's favorite music the minute they presented with stroke symptoms?

Thank you for this incredibly insightful and meaningful feedback. Hearing how your sister responded to music is so deeply moving. There’s a powerful documentary about music therapy and dementia called “Alive Inside” that has stayed with me since I saw it. I’m grateful that my love of music and my innate curiosity helped me - and still helps me heal. 🌹
